Description:

Caused by Vibrio Cholerae
- It's spread via anal/fecal route
- Motile
- Resistant to salt, sensitive to heat and acid
- Grows fast in food
two types (0:1) --> only two of 150 causes (0:159) --> causes disease

Symptoms: Viscous blood, Violent vomiting, Can die in 6 hrs, abdominal cramping, dehydration, shock, rice-water waste (flakes of intestines in waste)

Treatment: Consume liquids and have careful monitoring. IV drip for liquids.

50% of people die of dehydration.

A man named John snow in 1854 deduced that cholera was spread by water (or fecal matter that is) and ended up removing the handle on the water pump in the cholera infected area and reduced the amount of infections.
