7 sept. 1720 - Term: fugue, or fugal writing

Description:

Is a subcategory of the imitative harmonic texture. A line that is echoed or repeated similarly, with one voice entering at a time.

a type of imitative counterpoint in which all the voices enter successively (i.e., one at a time) with the main musical subject

Real answer = the second voice’s entrance has the exact same pitches as the subject. If transposed, will have the EXACT SAME intervals. Usually this doesn't work well melodically and is uncommon.

Tonal answer = the second voice’s entrance begins on a different note, and consequently is modified slightly.
