23 nov 2016 - Pakistan XDR-Typhoid
Description:
Extensively Drug Resistant Typhoid, similar to XDR tuberculosis, is a type of typhoid that resists more than a few of the drugs used to treat it; those drugs include ampilicin, fluoroquinolones and chloramphenicol. The current only known outbreak has been in Pakistan; the CDC believes it started in Hyderabad in November 2016 and all travelers are advised they could be in danger of catching it, thus causing authorities to have to impliment more vaccinations and try to identify possible cases to treat communities better.
