Founded by 1,000 puritans from England seeking religious freedom. They got a charter to form a colony where they made their version of a "purified" England Church. They had specific rules, women were expected to clean, cook, have kids, and be quiet while the men did their work. If anyone did not agree to these conditions, they were kicked out of the colony.
