Description:
Malaria, derived from the word mal'aria or bad air, is a disease spread by the Anopheles mosquito. In it's uncomplicated form it can cause fever, chills and sweats, nausea, vomiting, body aches and headache; it can also cause mild jaundice and enlargement of the spleen. Severe forms can involve infection of the brain, severe anemia, acute kidney failure, and hyperparasitemia where more than five percent of the blood cells are infected by the parasites.
