Description:

On April 1, 199, the map of Canada was changed. The former Northwest Territories was split in two, therefor making a new territory called Nunavut. In the Inuit language, “Nunavut” means “Our Land”. Nunavut is made from the central and southern parts of Northwest Territories before it was split to create Nunavut. These are the traditional lands of the Inuit who live in the Canadian North where their ancestors lived for thousands of years. The Inuit govern a territory of about two million square kilometers.
