1 janv. 1532 - The Conquest of Peru

Description:

Francisco Pizzaro was a conquistador, who heard about the major decrease in population of the Inca Empire. Their emperor had just died of disease and the new ruler, Atahualpa, had just taken over. Pizzaro met with Atahualpa, but secretly sabotaged it and started a massacre. Pizzaro tried to convince Atahualpa to convert to Christianity, but he wouldn't, so he was taken as a prisoner. Atahualpa gave Pizzaro lots of gold and silver to stop the massacre, but instead, Pizzaro killed 2,000 men and killed Atahualpa. The Spanish conquered the empire, and left Peru poor and empty, but left Spain rich and with more land. This conquest was one of the 1st in the Americas and led to even more.
