20 déc. 1860 - South Carolina Secedes from the Union
Description:
As a response to the election of Abraham Lincoln and no control of Democrats in any capacity, South Carolina became the first state to secede from the Union.
The secession of South Carolina is significant because they paved the way for six other southern states to follow suit. These seven states created the Confederate States of America and would operate as an independent country.
