21 juill. 1932 - Hyperkinetic Disease of Infancy

Description:

German physicians Franz Kramer and Hans Pollnow wrote about what they considered to a “hyperkinetic disease of infancy”. In their report they describe children whose symptoms were different from that of children with post encephalitis, particularly in that the “hyperkinetic disease” symptoms were observed during the day only. Although there were many similar behaviors observed, such as hyperactivity, Kramer and Pollnow concluded that the children in their studies had a high degree of distractibility due to their ability to quickly change their focus from one stimuli to another. In essence, their work added to the already previously noted symptom of hyperactivity, the symptom of inattention, which is consistent with the most current DSM V definition of ADHD.
