This was the last battle in the war, on this day many people say "The World Turned Upside Down" this was because the Americans weren't supposed to win this war, all odds against them freedom came through and won the war. On this day General Washington and French General Comte de Rochambeau led their final attack. British General Lord Corwallis and 9,000 of his troops had gone to Yorktown to retreat, but what they didn't know was they cornered themselves. Washington led his forces and pushed General Corwallis farther towards the ocean. General Corwallis called on the British fleet for assitance, but when those ships arrived French ships bombarded them with cannons further trapping the troops on shore. With no naval assitence and troops falling all around him, General Corwallis was forced to surrender. This was the battle that ended the war, the bands started polaying the song "The World Turned Upside Down". This battle wasn't won because of America's equiment or training, but rather won by Washington's smart plays, and planning.
