19 avr. 1775 - The Battles of Lexington and Concord

Description:

These were the first battles fought in the Revolutionary War. These battles were fought by the minutemen and the British Redcoats. The Redcoats had simply been there to find and burn weapon stocks but they got much more than that. Smaller battles raged about but in the end some 2,00 minute men grouped together and fired at the British, this led to the British retreating and throwing weapons, clothes, and food away so they could retreat faster. The British retreated to Lexington and gained some reinforcements, this didn't stop the colonists. They kept on fighting until they had the chance to finish off the redcoats, but instead their general told them to back off. The British may have gotten away this battle, but it showed the world that America was ready to fight, and they weren't going to give in.
