2 mars 1676 - Bacon's Rebellion

Description:

The colony of Jamestown was experiencing great prosperity, but this meant the population and size of the colony was increasing into Native land which went against the treaty between Natives and Colonizers, this lead to increased tension and warfare between the two.

Causes: Nathaniel Bacon soon arrived in Jamestown in 1673 and quickly made a rise in popularity and political influence. Him and the governor, William Berkeley, had different views on how they should deal with the Indians. This lead to Bacon starting rebellion.

Social Impact: Bacon's view on the Indians was harsh and violent. The interactions between the two groups was started to get heated in recent years as land was being taken unlawfully. The rebellion lead to the burning of Jamestown.
