Description:
The 14th Amendment was passed on July of 1868 in the United States.
This amendment stated that everyone born in the U.S are automatically citizens and have the rights of an American citizen, along with that former Confederate officials could not hold office.
The cause of the the 14th Amendment was past problems of slavery during the war and to pursue citizenship for newly freed slaves after their service in the war.
The historical impact of passing the 14th Amendment goes beyond just granting citizenship to newly freed African Americans, but more incoming immigrants in order to show that all can enjoy the benefits of being an American citizen.
