1 janv. 1959 - Cytogenics and Down's Syndrome
Description:
Cytogenics (the study of chromosomes) had it's first great impact on biology and disease diagnosis in 1959, when scientists linked an extra copy of chromosome 21 to Down's Syndrome.
The disorder was named after John Langdon Down, who fully described the syndrome in 1866, although he had misunderstood how the disorder arises.
