5 févr. 1930 - First female
senator
Description:
in February 1930 the first female senator in Canadian history is appointed, Cairine Wilson. She was president of the Ottawa Women's Liberal Club before becoming a senator. This tells us that society has started to allow women to be involved in government and parliament. Cairine Wilson becoming senator is a step in the right direction for gender equality in Canada.
