1 janv. 1857 - 1857----Dred Scott v Sanford Case

Description:

Dred Scott was a slave that decided to sue his owner in order to gain his freedom. This case was so special that it went up to the Supreme Court where he was told that he was a piece of property and that, therefore he has no legal rights or recognitions to be an actual human being. The decision made was something that had disrupted the political landscape, which was what prevented the Civil War so far. In the end the South agreed on the territorial limitations for slavery, but North and South still had problems. This was also the reason as to why it contributed so much to the Civil War. It intensified the split between the North and South and it intensified the problems and decision being made on slavery.
