1 janv. 1593 - Politiques (1593)
Description:
The Politiques group of France was one of the most important groups in the struggle between the Calvinist Huguenots and the Catholics in the kingdom. They brought together a more ‘middle of the road’ view on religion that concluded that civil war and constant division was neither necessary nor good for France as a whole. Henry IV of France converted to be a Politique when he abjured his Calvinist faith in order to bring a peace to France and when he signed the Edict of Nantes. (Palmer 132-133)
