1 janv. 1570 - Philip II (1570)

Description:

Philip II was the last great Spanish King of an era, whose ambitions and religious beliefs contributed to the downfall of one of the greatest kingdoms in Europe. He was notorious for the failure of the Spanish Armada and the failure to recapture the Dutch Netherlands but is renowned for his religious beliefs and promotion of the Catholic faith through the Inquisitions and Jesuits. He is also noteworthy because his successors, the next generations of Spanish Kings, were notably lacking in mental faculties and as such could not be regarded as influential figures of the time.
