In 1982, there was a growing demand for testing not only in the educational setting but in the industrial setting. Dr. Genevive Tan who was then a consultant in various industries felt the need to measure the Filipino "psyche‟ in a valid way because most industries use foreign tests. The APSA has numerous tests that measure mental ability, clerical aptitude, work habits, and supervisory attitudinal survey. For the academic side, they have tests for basic education, Assessment of College Potential, Assessment of Nursing Potential, and the Assessment of Engineering Potential. In the future, the first Assessment for Accounting Potential and Assessment of Teachers and Maritime Potential will be available for use in higher education. The APSA pioneered on the use of new mathematical approaches (IRT Rasch Model) in developing tests which went beyond the norm-reference approach.
