Hitler was convinced that Roehm, the SA leader was a threat to his leadership.SS arrested and killed Roehm and SA leaders.
After the elimination of SA, the German army swore their allegiance to Hitler.
No opposition from with his ranks + only other powerful organisation left – the German Army loyal to him → increased his power → more control over internal affairs
