Description:
Hitler called for an election in March 1933.
But in Feb 1933, Reichstag caught fire.
Nazis blamed the communists for the fire and convinced President Hindenburg to invoke Article 48 to establish emergency powers to deal with the communists.
Hitler’s main opposition the Communist Party and Social Democratic Party banned→ key rival eliminated → Hitler’s Nazi party most influential
