Description:

Right-wing opposition:
-Opposed the Treaty of Versailles
-Wanted a strong German military and industry
-1920: Kapp Putsch--right-wing extremists including Wolfgang Kapp led soldiers to overthrow Weimar republic.
-However, the Putsch did not have the support of the people and was put down.

Left-wing opposition:
-Influenced by Russian Bolsheviks
-Spartacists: led by Rosa Luxemburg wanted to establish a communist Germany
-1919: Led a communist Spartacist rebellion
-Ebert had to ask the Freikorps to help put down the rebellion.
