15 août 1785 - Antoine Lavoisier

Description:

He grew up in France and was studying law but was required to see physics and chemistry lectures which is what got him into the field. He developed an experimentally based theory of chemical reactivity of oxygen and co-authored the modern system of naming chemical substances. He also came up with the Phlogiston theory but is most famous for creating the law of conservation of mass. This is important to the electrons history because the law of conservation of mass saws that the left side of the reaction must equal the right side, and because electrons are the only particle in chemical reactions this explains that the electrons are not destroyed but are moved somewhere else.
