Description:

Democrat James Buchanan defeated his Republican competition, John C. Fremont. This election was important because Buchanan did not get the majotorty of the popular vote. This election also had a bad role model/president in office when a good one was needed the most. Slavery was a huge issue and a strogn leader was needed.
