1 mai 1862 - Homestead Acts
Description:
The Homestead Acts were several laws in the US by which an applicant could acquire ownership of government property or the public domain, typically referred to as a "homestead." The first act was passed in 1862 and it allowed any adult who had never taken up arms against the US government to own land. Even women and immigrants who had applied for citizenship were eligible.
