16 mars 1942 - First Japanese Canadians are transported to "protected areas"

Description:

After the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, the Canadian government detained most Japanese people or people of Japanese descent. The government would send them to "protected areas" which were set up primarily in ghost towns. The areas had no electricity or running water, and the living conditions were poor. They only got to bring what they could carry into the town, and whatever they couldn't carry would be confiscated and was the property of the Canadian Government.
