27 oct. 1962 - DAY 12: While one U-2 spy plane accidentally flies into Russia, while another is shot down over Cuba. EX-COMM receives a second letter from Khrushchev stating that, in addition to a public promise not to invade Cuba, the U.S. removes its missiles from Turkey.

Description:

Even though it was a sad occurance the US ships were shot down it was good for Krushchev because the US was showing weakness is some areas. It was also really good for krushchev because the US was now promising to remove their missiles from turkey which krushchev wanted.
