Aug 26, 1971, Booby Orr became the first NHL hockey player to sign a million dollar contract. This event would change how much hockey players would get paid, if not all professional athletes. The contact that the Boston Bruins offered was 200,000 dollars for 5 years. Bobby Orr excepted the contract and continued to prove his significance. In the five years of his contract he played a total of 303 games, Scored 149 goals, 344 assists, a total of 493 points. On top of this Orr helped the Bruins win the Stanley Cup in 1972.
