Charles Darwin presented the theory of evolution. This was the idea that over time, the morphology of organisms changed to adapt to their changing environment in order to survive and reproduce. This theory fundamentally changed how biologists looked at how organisms related to one another and how life could only survive if it was suitable for its environment.
