Throughout my life, I have tried to surround myself with a core group of friends. Because of that support system, I have never felt like I was truly alone or that I was socially incompetent. Feeling unconditionally accepted helped me appreciate myself and understand who I am. I also never felt pressure to change/improve to become more popular because I felt comfortable with my social situation (I knew that I had a close group of people that I could count on).
