8 sept. 1965 - Delano grape strike
Description:
A labor strike brought on by Agricultural Workers Organizing Committee and United Farm Workers. The strike lead to many being arrested and picketers fighting with the grape growers. The strike lasted 5 years. At one point they bribed the longshoremen at one port into not allowing the shipment of grapes to go through. Thousands of pounds of grapes were spoiled because of it. A labor contract was finally made and signed by the strikers and the growers.
