Description:

The Reign of Terror was an extremely violent time period in the French Revolution, between the summers of 1793 and 1794. During this time, over 50,000 French citizens were executed with a Guillotine. Because executions were so common during this time, the flagstones of Place de la Revólution clogged with blood and the square began to smell rancid because of all the dead bodies outside of town.
