I did not get on Patti's good side, almost immediately. While this was only my second year in education, I had spent five years previously working with kids (with issues). At my first IEP transition meeting for a student with a very low IQ, I challenged Patti's behavior observations and suggested the student's limited intellectual capacity impacted the student's behavior more than we knew. Patti was irate that I challenged her observations.

We never got along. She made my life miserable for the year. And, I suppose looking back that she was under a tremendous amount of pressure to save a school and teachers' jobs and I probably should have kept my head down and mouth shut.
