The first iconoclasm lasted from about 726-787 C.E. This was a period of which the religious and imperials authorities within the Eastern Church and imperial hierarchy opposed the use of religious images and icons. An iconoclasm creates a massive cultural change in which everyone would throw out and burn their religious images or icons.
