19 mai 1985 - Chapter 2 (Salva) Southern Sudan, 1985
Description:
In this chapter, many people from different villages flee the fighting and run into a big crowd. They later separate into different villages and Salva feels a little bit more comfortable now that he recognizes a few of the people, even though no one from his family is in the group. When his village continues to walk farther and farther but suddenly run into a group of soldiers who force the men to walk and carry supplies for them. The next morning, Salva wakes up all alone. This particular scenario may not apply exactly the same to other groups that were walking, but children were often left behind unless they had their family with them because the child may slow down the group by complaining or becoming wary and tired.
