1 janv. 1730 - Fans
Description:
One accessory that was in constant use was the fan. This was carried by almost every woman. Its purpose was from pure function to extremely decorative. In Queen Anne's reign, fans had become even more popular. Later, it became less pretentious and was decorated with painted scenes by the ablest artists. Sometimes the paintings were designed to show political opinions. The material used was paper or, sometimes, thin white chicken skin, and the handles could be ornamented with jewels or enamels.
