8 juin 1867 - Austria-Hungary is formed
Description:
After Austria was defeated in its war with Prussia, Hungarians wanted to make a compromise with the Hapsburgs (Austrain royals). A Hungarian leader named Ferenc Deak helped to form the Dual Monarchy of Austria-Hungary. Each of the countries had their own constitution and parliament but Francis Joseph ruled over both. In addition, they shared ministries of finance, defense, and foreign affairs.
