Description:
In 1982, a serious fire in the heart of old Jeddahdestroyed more than a dozen traditional buildings. Since, more losses have been suffered by structural collapses, accidental fire and arsons. Thirty years later, the number of surviving traditional houses in the old city has decreased from about 1,000 to some 300.
