1 janv. 900 - Begins to figure as a prosperous Red Sea port
Description:
Fatimid-ruled Cairo eclipsed Abbasid Baghdad. The India trade followed the shift in regional power: the Arabian Gulf gradually ceased to be the main artery of commerce from the Indian Ocean into the Islamic lands and the Red Sea
took its place. From this moment on, Jeddah begins to figure in historical accounts as a prosperous Red Sea port.
