The court ruled that people must be given 4 warnings before being taken into police custody.1. the suspect has the right to remain silent
2. anything the suspect says can and will be used against them.
3. the suspect as the right to consult with an attorney.
4. if the suspect can't afford a lawyer, one will be given to them.
