2 mars 1824 - Gibbons v. Ogden
Description:
The Court ruled in the favor of Gibbons... The Court stated that the congressional statute (G federal license) took priority over the statute (O's state-monopoly license). The ruling also defined commerce as more than simply the exchange of goods, broadening it to include the transportation of people and the use of new inventions (like stramboats).
