Iron weapons were better than bronze , and so when they found how to make iron, they decided not to tell anybody else how to make it. They kept the secret for about 400 years, until about 1100 BC, but when the Dark Ages came to West Asia, there empire fell apart anyway, the secret of making iron got out to other people. Back then when people did not mace the things we did people had to make them. When those things were valuable they would keep it. The people in Mesopotamia would how to make iron, which is very valuable, and kept it to themselves. Until the dark ages came and there secret got out.
