Description:
On March 1, 1896, Becquerel, a French physicist, discovered radioactivity by using naturally fluorescent minerals to study the properties of x-rays. In this discovery, he found that some invisible radiation was emitted from the uranium he had been using. The identification of radioactivity is important as radiation in its forms were used in a multitude of practices from its discovery and onward.
