1 janv. 460 av. J.-C. - Democritus
Description:
A Greek philosopher, Democritus began research for the description of matter over 2400 year ago. His theory was that eventually matter can be divided until the smallest piece is obtained. He theorized this smallest piece would be invisible and he named this atomos, meaning "not cuttable." He thought atoms to be small hard particles of the same material, each with a different shape and size. His theory was ignored for thousands of years.
