On April 19, 1775, the British General Thomas Gage sent hundreds of British troops to Concord. On the way to Concord, the British crossed paths with the colonists of Lexington and faced off. Through all the confusion, someone shot first, this became known as "the shot heard around the world". This marked the beginning of American Revolution. The rebels were out numbered, so they regrouped at Concord were many more rebels showed up. By the time the British had arrived, the rebels greatly outnumbered the British. The British then retreated back to Boston, where the rebels surrounded the British and trapped them under siege.
