Pullman Palace Car Company maintained model town near Chicago for employees, depression → cut wages ⅓ , kept company house rent same; Workers overturn Pullman cars → paralyzed RR traffic from Chicago to W coast; AF of L didn't support this strike → enhanced their reputation for respectability;

Cleveland sends Fed troops cronch this; Debs → 6 months in prison for contempt of court bcuz defied fed order to stop striking, Spent prison time reading radical lit → leads socialist mvmt;

1st time legal weapon used by Wash to break Strike after this strike; exposed alliance btwn business and courts;
