Description:

As soon as France heard the news about Saratoga they openly declared their support for the Patriots. This was a massive turning point in the war. The French had one of the biggest Navies in the world. They also had battle hardened soldiers that were better trained than the Americans. This greatly helped the Americans and eventually helped them win the war.
