Description:
Imported duties or special taxes on imported goods imported into the colonies. Taxed goods such as lead, glass, paper, paint, and tea. Took steps to increase British officials ability to stop smuggling and collect money. Many colonial merchants signed agreements to stop importing goods from Britain. This made the colonists angry because the only way they could earn money was through smuggling but now they were being monitored.
