3 sept. 1775 - revolutionary war The American Revolutionary War began in 1775, and was the final factor for America's independence from Britain. The war started as a dispute between the thirteen American colonies and the oppressive British Parliament for America's independence, but soon many major world powers joined each side, including France and Spain, who helped the colonies by providing men and weapons, as well as naval support.
