2 déc. 1598 - Edict of Nantes

Description:

Signed by King Henry IV, granted the Calvinist protestants of France (huguenots) substantial rights in the nation, which was still considered Catholic. It granted freedom of worship and legal equality for Huguenots within limits, and ended the Wars of Religion. In the edict, Henry aimed to promote civil unity. It was later revoked by Louis XIV, causing many Huguenots to emigrate.
